Abstract

Due to lack of the vascular structure in skull tissue engineering scaffold, the amount of cell growth and bone formation are limited. Based on the characteristics of human skull diploe vein, a vascular scaffold parametric design method is presented. Aimed to a nature skull sample, through the technology of micro CT scanning, vascular feature identification and morphological analysis are applied, and a parametric model of vascular scaffold is built using binary tree structure. According to the venous blood flow characters of human body, one way fluid-structure coupling finite element model is established to analyze the effect of flow blood on elastic vascular structure. The results show that the parametric design for the vascular scaffold can be realized and its blood flow function is achieved. The flow of the main blood vessels and the small blood vessels segments is stable. The distributions of fluid pressure, velocity and shear force meet the law of laminar flow, and the deformation and stress are reasonable. This method can be used to guide and improve the vascular structure design, which lays a foundation for skull tissue engineering scaffold vascularization in vitro.
