Abstract

:The accurate time-varying mesh parameters are the foundation of the dynamics analysis of hypoid gear system. Based on the theory of finite element contact analysis,loaded tooth contact analysis (LTCA) is implemented by employing ABAQUS software. Hypoid gear time-varying equivalent mesh parameters,including time varying equivalent mesh point position,line of direction of time varying equivalent mesh force,translational transmission error and time-varying equivalent mesh stiffness,are calculated. Effect of different torque loads on the mesh parameters is studied. The results show that torque loads have important impacts on time-varying equivalent mesh parameters of hypoid gear. Transmission error obtained by finite element method shows a good agreement with the classical tooth contact analysis (TCA) method. The loaded contact area obtained by finite element method is also shows a good agreement with the test. So the correctness of the model and the calculation is verified. The time-varying equivalent mesh parameters calculated by finite element method can reflect the time-varying mesh characteristics of hypoid gears precisely,which provide the basis to the study of hypoid gear dynamics.
