Abstract

Titanium alloy Ti6Al4V is widely used in aircraft industry applications due to excellent performance. However, tool wear is a prominent problem. There is a lack of effective method of tool life prediction for titanium alloy processing. The thermal-mechanical coupling effect for carbide tool wear is discussed and the tool wear model is proposed based on Fick diffusion laws. Finally, the validity of the model is verified by comparing the simulation results obtained from the secondary development AdvantEdge simulation software with the experimental results.
