According to the structure characteristics of side plate parts for air conditioning evaporator and the technical requirements of actual production, the layout design of multi-station progressive mold was carried out, and considering the structure and margin factor of parts, an eight-process mold structure was designed finally. According to the features of workpiece shape, the single-row arrangement was selected to ensure the utilization rate of material and simplify the processes to the greatest extent, and the pin positioning was designed between templates to ensure the accuracy of mold, so that the processing of each process for parts became more accurate. Furthermore, the rubber ring was designed at the place where the punch and die collided, so that there was a buffer during each blanking, and the service life of mold was guaranteed. In addition, the first step of the processes was designed to punch the positioning hole, which ensured the accuracy of feeding. The actual production verification shows that the mold has stable performance and good product quality to meet the needs of mass production.
